Since receiving her B.Mus in Voice from UBC in 1985, Kim has performed regularly in opera and concerts, including many seasons as a chorus member with Pacific Opera Victoria and Calgary Opera. Recent solo highlights include: Yum Yum in The Mikado with Victoria Gilbert and Sullivan Society; Socoh in Ohlibah and Her Lovers at UVic; Zweite Magd in Daphne with Pacific Opera Victoria; Sister Genevieve in Suor Angerlica with the Victoria Conservatory. She is looking forward to appearing as the Soprano Soloist in Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater with the Calgary Baroque String Orchestra this Spring.
Kim is delighted to be part of this wonderfully innovative Winterreise Project and to have the opportunity to sing songs from Schubert’s shattering masterwork.
When she’s not singing, Kim can be found reclining on her couch savouring her daughter’s patisserie whilst cuddling her three cats and reading The Secret History of Wonder Woman. Thusly fortified she applies herself to teaching a class of adorable, adrenalized grade 2 / 3s.
Kim would like to dedicate her singing to the dearest of friends, without whose encouragement she would not have attended UBC’s Music program, Sean Rossiter, who passed away early this year.
