After singing in choirs as a child and young adult, mezzo-soprano Trudy David became interested in studying voice while watching her eldest daughter sing a solo in the local Performing Arts Festival. They both enrolled at the Victoria Conservatory of Music, where they began their vocal studies with Karen Smith.
Inspired by the operas she attended at Pacific Opera Victoria, Trudy auditioned for the Conservatory Opera Studio Program, honing her performance skills there under Selena James and Robert Holliston.
Following that training, she had the rewarding experience of performing in thirty-two operas as a member of the Pacific Opera Victoria Chorus. She has also dabbled in musical theatre and jazz, performing with Victoria Operatic Society and at Hermann’s Jazz Club.
Trudy is honoured to be a participant in the Winterreise Project and looks forward to deepening her knowledge of Schubert in collaboration with her fellow musicians.
